Actually, Company Values Guide Profitable Behavior: Good Decisions And Brand Strength. (The Worksheet)

Over the past two weeks, we’ve defined your company’s Mission and Culture in clear, actionable terms.
Now, it’s time to do the same for your company’s Values. That’s right—values aren’t just buzzwords; they are tangible, meaningful principles that guide your organization.
The concept of values
Values are beliefs or principles that guide our behavior and influence our decisions.
A company value does the same thing, shaping the culture and decisions of a business.
This is why I prefer to use the term “guiding principle,” which you will find frequently in these emails.
Each value—or guiding principle—deserves a two-part definition:
- What it means and
- What behavior it guides
The fact of values
Guiding Principles boost your business performance and perception. They
- Give a stronger definition to your brand personality
- Determine who you are as a business, as well as who you are not
- Allow you to stop micromanaging and trust your employees more – an often under-appreciated perk. (And more on that next week)
Find out your true business values, and define them as guiding principles in this week’s worksheet.
