The Mystery Of The Missing Productivity: A Hercule Poirot Adventure (The Worksheet)

I love a good mystery book as much as the next person. (Maybe even more)
But that is because reading mysteries is my escape from the real world.
Here in reality, I don’t want too much mystery.
And especially not in business.
Business is about clarity
Running a business is all about clarity. It is about being specific, obvious, and easy to understand.
If your business is vague, generic, and incomplete, you’ll end up with everything you don’t want.
- Micro management, because people don’t know what to do or why it matters
- Unproductive teams, because they are duplicating efforts and constantly fixing mistakes
- Low morale and motivation, because people don’t get to participate in a shared mission
Clarity is about communication
Change how you communicate to change how you work.
When your employees know both what you want them to do and why, they can bring their best strengths to the table. You are giving them independence, motivation, and trust.
So set clear and simple expectations, and bring clarity to your business.
Start with this week’s worksheet to explain what your goal is, why it is the right goal to have, and how you all—as a business—will recognize success.
