Suddenly, your clients change their mind 🤷🏻♀️ (4/4)
Sometimes, your competition is your clients themselves.
And how they make decisions.
Because, of course, they can change their mind completely and not buy from you OR your competitors.
Replacements
Your client’s life keeps happening around and beside and before and after their need for you.
In other words: you are not the only thing on their mind.
All sorts of new ideas and events can happen that result in you losing the client completely.
Remember our earlier examples:
- The runner may choose to find a new hobby and start cooking classes. Neither Nike nor Adidas will get that business.
- It’s possible the mattress shopper will find that physiotherapy will help him sleep better, and he’ll no longer need Mattress Factory or Mattress Firm.
- The movie-lover may be sick of the screen and decide to take up running, leaving both Netflix and Hulu without her business. Although both Nike and Adidas may now be interested.
What could your client replace you with completely?
Status Quo
Your client can always choose to do nothing.
Not pick a competitor, not DIY it, not pick the cheap option.
Just, nothing.
Change is hard. And even if there is a need, it can be easier to stay with something painful but familiar than to take on the risk of change.
Can you build a business case against your client’s own comfort and ease?
